Subject: Fundraising
I just found a really cool website that makes fundraising simple and at no cost to us.

We just open a "store"/account, upload our artwork, specify which items we want with the logo on it, and how much we want to charge over the base price.  Any amount charged over the base price per item is our profit.  Then just send people to the website and watch the money roll in.

Each month, they send us a check.

For example:

Base price on a white t-shirt is 13.99
We sell them for 15.99
We would earn $2 on each t-shirt sold
If we sell more than 20 items in a month (probably of the same item) the base price goes down, raising the profit.

Drawbacks:

Most items are white.  They do colors, but it costs more.
The purchases pays shipping on the item $4.30 for the first item and $1.30 for each additional.

I did some reading on the site, since it has been an issue in the past, and the image owner retains all rights to the image.  You just grant CafePress permission to reproduce the image on your behalf and display it on their website.

Subject: Announcements
Hi all.

Budget:
Well, here's the information. As you can see, you
have all been given access to our proposed budget. I
would like to open discussion for the next two weeks
regarding the budget (i.e. deadline - February 9).
After that, I will call for a vote approving it. I
will be sending out a hard copy of the budget to
everyone tomorrow just in case you can't access it on
the internet (as is the case for me). If there is
another address you want it sent to other than the one
listed for your chapter on the internet, please let me
know ASAP. So, let the e-mails fly.

Lifetime Achievement Award:
With Costume Con coming up too quickly, I have been
unable to get things together fast enough for this
award to be presented at the Masquerade. I am,
therefore, breaking with tradition and will be
announcing the winner in our usual May timeframe via
internet and special president's message (assuming I'm
still president).

In light of all this, I would like to ask for
nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award. I
would like all nominations presented by February 23
(one month from today). I look forward to hearing
from you.

CGUK:
Due to a variety of problems, the CGUK is no longer a
chapter of the ICG. It was their choice to leave.
However, I should note that they have not provided
either dues or member names and information to us for
over a year now. It is clearly stated in our bylaws
and our standing rules that in order to maintain
chapter status, this information must be provided to
the ICG. Had they not chosen to leave at this time,
they would have been removed as an ICG chapter by the
time of the annual meeting due to their unwillingness
to follow our bylaws and standing rules. I received a
message of secession from them, but unfortunately have
been unable to read it due to the format in which it
was sent. Once I have read it, if there is any
additional information that needs to be passed on to
the BOD, I will do so.

Thanks to all.

Darla Kruger
President, ICG

Subject: Correction to my announcement from yesterday
Attachments :
I realized at 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning that I had
made a mistake about how the budget approval will be
handled. The budget will go with Carl to Australia
for the annual meeting taking place there. He and/or
Dora will have hard copies of the budget to provide
all attending members. Carl will, of course, stand in
for me since I am not going. At that time, the BOD
members present will vote to approve the budget (as is
our usual practice). However, I would still like to
hear any discussions or questions regarding the budget
before he toodles off to the Land Down Under since
many of us will not be attending.

Second, I forgot to remind everyone about ICG proxies.
If you are not attending the annual meeting, please
be sure and give your proxy to someone who is. If you
like, you can send your proxy to Carl or Dora at 85 W.
McClellan Ave., Livingston, NJ 07039. I've just
volunteered them for this, by the way, without their
permission. I'm attaching a copy of the ICG Proxy
form in rtf format. Please let me know if you have a
problem opening it. I know you all know this but if
you're not attending a meeting, the proxy is what
gives you and your members a voice in the ICG. Please
be sure and pass the proxy on to your membership as
    well.

I would like to hear from Pierre, our parliamentarian,
on the acceptability of e-mailed proxies.

    Thanks again to all.

    President, ICG

It is a general proxy form. The people running will
be announced in my next presidential message.

    Darla

Here's the form. I also have it in wpd format, but
here at home I don't think I can convert it to a doc

This Proxy Statement is for ICG members who will not

Administrivia: About the ICG mailing lists.

Due to a crash of the Best List Server in early October,
the ICG mailing lists were moved to eGroups. When the
server came back up, the membership decided it liked eGroups.

The ICG has 2 mailing lists, the ICG General Discussion (ICG-D)
list and the ICG Board of Directors (ICG-BOD) list.

ICG-D is intended for, but not limited to, the general membership
    of the International Costumers' Guild.

ICG-BOD is intended for, and limited to, the members of the
International Costumers' Guild Board of Directors as defined
by Article 5, Section 1 of the ICG Bylaws and those non-voting
parties as invited by the BOD to provide commentary.

To post to the lists use the following addresses:

    ICG-D@egroups.com for general membership discussion.
    ICG-BOD@egroups.com for officer level discussions.

To subscribe, please see the Subscription HowTo contained
    in subscribe.txt for instructions.

    Notes:

Policies of the ICG-D and ICG-BOD mailing list:

    1) No Flaming. The moderator will issue one and only one warning.

If the flaming continues, all parties flaming will be unsubscribed.

    2) No detailed discussion of the actual making of costumes.

"Huh?" you say. When this list was set up, its intention was
not to draw traffic away other costuming lists such as
H-Costume, F-Costume, Vintage, etc, but to promote discussion
about the ICG and costuming in general between members.

Detailed discussions will be encouraged to move or cross post
to one of the other lists.

    3) If someone directly requests the moderator to subscribe/unsubscribe
them they will be sent this message and the moderator will
    subsingle/unsubscribe them.

    4) No SPAM! Suspect addresses in subscription requests will have their
    identity verified.

    5) No Chain Letters. I know some of them pull at your heart strings
or have you fearing for your hard drive, but most are inaccurate
(at best), out-of-date or fake (at worst).

    6) Severely off-topic discussions or violations of these few policies
will flagged by a message from the moderator with [RIP]* in the
subject line. Further discussion after the posting of the [RIP]
message should be taken to private eMail.

    7) No viral advertising! Do not send messages with advertisements
attached. It is bad enough we have to put up with the ads attached
to the free eMail accounts, without members taking the conscious act
of attaching advertising. I consider these one step above SPAM.

    8) Subscribers whose accounts bounces mail will be deactivated.

"If messages sent to a member are consistently returned"
will deactivate your account from stop sending the mailing
    list to your address.

For freemail account holders (Hotmail, Juno, Excitemail, etc)
Please be aware you account has limitations and will bounce
mail when you exceed you quota or have a full mailbox.

        MESSAGE:

        International Costumers' Guild
        President's Message
        February 1, 2002

        Hello everyone:

I have enclosed the Agenda for this month=s Annual
Meeting in Australia. Unfortunately, I won=t be
attending. However, Carl Mami, our present Vice
President will be standing in for me.

First, I would like to talk about the past year of my
presidency. Well, as I suspected, I would not be able
to get everything done that I wanted to. However,
that doesn=t daunt me at all. I never expect to get
everything done that I have on my plate because it
would not be possible for anyone to do so. There have
been disappointments, such as the CGUK leaving the
ICG. I do believe, though, I tried my hardest to make
the situation work and it just wasn=t possible.
Since, that was off my plate, I=ve been able to get
other things done. Also unfortunately, we had the
terrible occurrence on September 11. This seemed to
put a stop to all non-essential functioning for many
of us and we=re just starting to get back on our feet
(me included). Finally, it has been a very short
year. I=ve had three months less than the average
term in office which has really put a crimp in things.

Now that I=ve listed some of the down things of my
year, I=d like to list some of the positives of what=s
occurred over the past nine months. First, I was able
to make arrangements for a special discount with a
publisher for ICG members. This was the first of what
I hope to be many direct perks of being a member of
the ICG. Additionally, I was able to lower the
printing costs for our CQ. Not by much on each issue
(I believe the figure was 50 cents), but it=s a start.

Now for a few announcements of some other good things.

For the last several months, Bruce and Nora Mai, Carl
Mami, and I have been discussing melding the ICG
annual into an issue of the CQ. When approached, the
Mais thought it was a win/win situation as did Carl.
The Mais have agreed to produce the third quarter
issue of the CQ as the ICG Annual issue. The purpose
of this Ajoining of forces@ was being we felt there
was a split in focus having two ICG publications. As
everyone knows, the CQ has a troubled history and now
with it nearing the point of being fully on track
(thanks to Carl Mami and Dora Buck), we didn=t want to
water down our energies. We felt unifying the
publications could only strengthen them. So our
chapter presidents can expect to be contacted by the
Mais within the next month or so asking for
information about their chapters. I hope that
everyone cooperates since this is for all us. The
only issue that remains is this. If you want a copy
of the annual, you will have to subscribe to the CQ.
We hope this gives more people motivation for becoming
        part of the CQ family.

I would also like to announce that the ICG webmaster
position will be changing hands. For the past several
years, John O=Halloran has been our webmaster. He is
the one who designed Costume.Org and has maintained
it. As with many of us though, after many years of
dedicated service to the website, John is ready to
move on to something else. As difficult as it is to
hand off his Ababy,@ John has decided it=s time to
pass the torch. In light of that, Jeffrey Morris of
the SLUTS has agreed to take over the duties of
webmaster. Jeffrey is experienced in this area and
John himself said he=s comfortable and has confidence
in Jeff taking over. I think Jeff is going to do a
great job and it will be exciting to see what new
visions Jeff has for our website. He will be taking
over all duties from John including maintaining and
monitoring the D lists. He will begin full force
after February (he has to get out his last SLUTS
        newsletter first).

As you will see by the attached Agenda, we have a
slate of candidates for the ICG officer positions.
You will note I have decided to run for office again.
Like I said above, there are many things I=d still
like to do for the ICG and I can best serve you all as
president. I hope you will all agree.

On a final note. As you all know, the annual meeting
is not only taking place very early this year, but
very far away. As a result, many of you are not going
to be attending the annual meeting. It is therefore
VERY important that you send in your proxies to
someone who is going. If you need a proxy form please
go to our website, Costume.org. There should be an
updated version there (don=t forget to refresh if you
haven=t been on the site in awhile). If you don=t
have web access, your chapter president or ICG
representative has a copy. I know this because I sent
one to all of them several days ago.

Hi all. Last night at about 3:00 a.m., I realized I
had made one mistake in my president's message.
Here's the correction. The ICG Annual issue being
rolled into the CQ will not be the third quarter. The
ICG Annual will be the fourth quarter issue of the CQ.

Sorry about any confusion (especially to the Mais).

        Subject: Call for help
Hey, everyone. As you might have read in Darla's February address,
I'm the guy who offered to help manage the ICG's website. I'm in the
midst of preparing changes to the site, specifically the chapter
information, and I need some input from you.

Basically, the way I'm setting things up, each chapter should have:

        A logo (if one's available)

        Mailing address

Home page address (if one exists)

        E-mail contact (if one exists)

Any extra information about the group that might help explain what
        it is, etc.

I'm disinclined at this point to include membership rates as part of
the page, because it's something that ought to be part of the
chapters' home page data and this way it's one less thing I have to
update from time to time. No fool me. :)

I've taken most of the information for the pages from the old ICG
page and from your individual chapter sites, making changes as
needed. Here are the things I need clarification on:

Does the Beyond Reality chapter have a home page?

Does the Millenium Costumers chapter have a home page?

Do the Sick Pups have a home page, and is it safe for sane people to
        visit?

Does the Utah chapter have a home page (detecting a trend here?)?

How about the Canadian chapter, and while we're at it, do our
brethren from the north have an email contact address?

That's about it for now. If you'd like to add some stuff to your
page (I'd let you see what I've got but this is still very much a
work in progress--check the ICG chapter page and that's pretty much
it), email me at slcgjeff@aol.com and I'll be happy to add it on.

        Jeff,

Millennium CG had a homepage. It went down with the fall of @Home. I've
restarted the page on a new server, but it's in complete disarray. I've
decided to take the loss of the old page to get in gear and start from
scratch. The group basically rebuilt it self over the course of the last
few years; we need to rebuild the website as well. We still have the
original files, but I'd really like to rebuild it.

I'll try to at least get a better title page up this weekend and send you
        the URL.

        Michael

Having finally resolved our lack of treasurer, we're just about ready to
send in our January update and Dues. Where should we be sending them?

I will work on getting our new treasurer subscribed to the ICG BOD list.

Subject: March 2002 President's Message and 2002 Annual Meeting Minutes
        Attachments :
Well, as you can see, Im writing the Presidents
message. Im sure youve figured out that means Im
still president. Again, I didnt run fast enough.
There is some important business to be taken care of
so my actual message is going to be very important.

Now I realize the annual meeting came upon us very
quickly and many of us were taken by surprise.
Therefore, I must remind you that all chapters must
forward their membership lists and ICG dues
immediately. As it is, we tend to be lax about
collecting this information and these fees on a
quarterly basis. However, your chapter treasurers
should forward these all-important items at least once
a year, at this time of year. Not only is it because
this is required by our bylaws, but it is the
          chapters legal obligation.

First, if the chapter does not forward membership
lists or dues, they are NOT a chapter of the ICG. We
do allow for a grace period (nothing written in stone,
but we understand were all volunteers and life
sometimes gets in the way), but we cannot allow for
longer than a three-month grace period from this time
forward. Additionally, it is the chapters legal
obligation to forward these items. The chapter can
neither use the ICG non-profit status if the ICG does
not have this information nor the dues, and the
chapter can be legally held responsible for holding
ICG funds (i.e., the dues your members are paying to
the chapter that should be forwarded to the ICG).
These funds are being held by the chapter in what is
called a trust, and therefore, belong to the ICG,
not the chapter. If your treasurer is unsure of where
to send the funds and membership list, here is the
information. All checks should be made payable to the
ICG and should be forwarded with your complete
membership list to: Sharon Trembley, 398 Prospect St.,
South Amboy, NJ 08879. If you need further
          information, Sharons e-mail address is:
callisto@netlabs.net. Sharon will report to me in one
month as to which chapters are delinquent. Those
chapters will then receive personal contact from me to
find out why their information and dues are not into
the ICG. It does neither the chapters nor the ICG any
good if we dont know who our members are.

On a final note, attached to this message are the
minutes from the 2002 ICG Annual meeting. Our
Recording Secretary, Dora Buck, has gotten the put
together very quickly so that the membership can be
informed of what went on at the meeting. The minutes
are in Word format, so if you cannot open or read
them, let me know immediately and we will make other
arrangements to get them to you. Additionally, I will
be mailing a hard copy of this message and the minutes
to each of the chapters. It is important that both my
message and the minutes be communicated to your
membership. Please try to send the whole of both
documents to your members and do not paraphrase.

          Thank you for your cooperation.

Work on the revised web page continues. And continues. And continues.

I'm working on the mailing lists and publications page tonight. I
suddenly notice that I can find next to no information on the
Costumers Quarterly on the current page. This makes me sad because
it means I now have two options:

          1) Write the blurb myself
          2) Find someone to write the blurb for me
          3) Find someone to pass me the essential information (subscription
rate, publication dates, submission info) so I can write the blurb
          myself.

While I'd much prefer #2, I'm a realist and will settle for #3 (Hi
          Carl!). :)

Second thing, and a bit more serious here. The current page shows
information for joining f-costume and h-costume. Thing is, when I
write to the email address given, I get "no such list" back. Are
these lists still active and if so, what's the majordomo email
          address for them?

          We're showing majordomo@indra.com currently, btw.

Great job. There are two corrections needed for the News &
Events page, however: (1) The Parliamentarian is appointed by
he President, not elected at the Annual Meeting. (2) Sharon's last
          name is Trembley, not Trembly.

          Keep up the good work!

          * I originally used Rip as in the sense of a ripping seam, but when
capitalized, its other meaning worked as well.

Subject: Reminder - Quarterly Reports are due tomorrow
We would like to remind you of this upcoming event.

          Quarterly Reports are due tomorrow

          Date: Saturday, April 6, 2002
          Time: 12:00AM PST (GMT-08:00)

Remember Quarterly reports are due the 6th of every January,
          April, July, and October.

The January report is also when all ICG dues and CQ subscription
          moneies are due as well.

Subject: Re: Reminder - Quarterly Reports are due tomorrow
I am personally reminding all BOD members of the ICG
that this information is now due (today). In one
month, Sharon will provide me with a list of chapters
that have still not responded. I will then personally
contact you as BOD members and representatives of your
local chapters to find out what the problem is.

I'm very serious about this you guys. There's a legal
issue here about the chapters holding money that
legally belongs to the ICG and that your members have
entrusted to you to forward. They have joined your
chapter with the $4 membership fee to the ICG. They
believe that they are ICG members-in-good standing and
if your chapters don't forward their money and, just
as importantly, their names, their membership in the
ICG technically lapses. Then that becomes the local
chapters responsibility (and fault). So help out here
and get your stuff in. It's your job (remember, you
          volunteered for this).

If there's a problem, contact me off line and we'll
solve it. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and
          help.

          Sincerely,
          Darla
          Prez of this stuff
