I'll be in Portland OR all next week, ending up at OryCon. If I see any Seattle people there, I'll ask who's supposed to be checking in to the ICG here.  I'll send the compilation of check-in after I get back after 11-Nov-2018 ...... a date to note in history, 100th anniversary of the WWI armistice.

Have a good OryCon--

They called Nov. 11th Armistice Day when I was a kid. Didn't change the name to Veteran's Day till later...

(The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a century ago) So Nov. 11 is Definitely Armistice Day THIS year!

(But I have taken the Veterans in my family out for dinner for many years on Nov. 11th!)

Cheers! (I'll be at Windycon that day; nice to know we're in sync with Oregon here in Chicago!)

Hi, all,

Sandy and I are planning a presentation for the Costume-Con 37 S/SF Masquerade. We could use some secondary characters. If you would like to join us, these are the parameters.

1.      Either male or female costumers are welcome.

2.      We will provide you with the designs for our two primary characters.

3.      You may design your own costume to complement (not match) ours.

4.      We will ask that you send us a drawing of your concept so we can approve it.

5.      You will be responsible for paying for and making your costume.

Please let us know if you are interested. You can contact us through e-mail at costumer@radiks.net or through Facebook messenger.

Well, I'll ask some questions.....

I went to my Yahoo groups and found the 2019 budget rev 1 file in the files section and opened it in Excel (I'm using Chrome and it opened my Excel).

I ordered something on Amazon with 'Smile' for ICG and I was wondering where that bit goes into the budget? Is it under 'Earned Revenues -- Miscellaneous Revenues' ? Should it have it's own line?

I assume that there is no way to project values for 'Miscellaneous Revenues' so that line is set to $0.00, but do we have any values from past years?

I also assume that the 'Archive Expenses' adequately cover the changes and new equipment we discussed for next year?  I hope the Archive people will speak up if it's not enough.

In the bottom right hand corner 'Net Income' is -832.00.   Do we get negative numbers like this often for our projected budgets?  What is the projected 'Net Income' for 2018 as of Nov 2018?  I found the proposed budget for 2018 in the Yahoo files, but that was projected from last year -- has it been updated?

..........................
BTW about the Amazon order -- I highly recommend Megan Whelan Turner's young adult series 'Queen's Thief'. I really did not wan to get into another series, but this one is just too good. It's my sister's fault that I started reading them.

It gets classified as "Miscellaneous Revenues"and it goes into the General Funds, that was decided back when the program was started. The amount we get each quarter is dependent solely on how many purchases were made in that period. There is no way to predict what we will get at any time. The same goes for interest earned which is an "Earned Revenue" as it is connected to how much is in each savings account. It gets a $0 amount because we can not predict how much might come in. It is the same for "Contributed Support". There is no reason for it to have it's own line item in the budget.

I assume that there is no way to project values for 'Miscellaneous Revenues' so that line is set to $0.00, but do we have any values from past years?
The Amazon Smile program has only been in place since 2016. By running a Profit & Loss Budget to Actual report for the time period of Jan 1, 2016 to Nov 15, 2018 it shows Amazon has donated a total of $109.57 since the program began in 2016.

I also assume that the 'Archive Expenses' adequately cover the changes and new equipment we discussed for next year?  I hope the Archive people will speak up if it's not enough.
It may require using some of the donated Archive funds, that will depend on their actual expenses.

The proposed 2018 budget is our current operating budget, the title did not get changed. The negative number is likely to be considerably less or even change to a positive one. It is all connected to what the annual expenses actually turn out to be.

Quarterly and year end reports are posted to the ICG website and Fin Com. http://costume.org/wp/about-the-international-costumers-guild/financial-statements/   I do see that Phil has not posted the 3rd qtr reports yet. Phil, this needs to be done. Our income comes mainly from chapter dues. Right now there are several chapters behind on submitting their dues.

If you just want the ICG to list Marcon on our events page, send the information (name, city, state, dates, venue) to our webmaster (webmaster@costume.org) and ask that it be added to the list (if it isn’t there already). This is a service for any and all “costume friendly” events. It’s as close as you can get to an “official ICG event,” since we don’t have such a category, to the best of my knowledge.

According to the document on the website, “the International Costumers Guild recognizes certain contests as “International Competitions”, but that standards for recognizing additional events with that status are not within the scope of those fairness guidelines. At the time of this writing, the events so recognized are WorldCon, Costume-Con and Anime North.”

Are there any 'official ICG events'? Costume-con isn't an ICG event, neither are the original conventions which the ICG grew out of.

I certainly hope I'm doing this right. If not, please let me know.

I'm the head of the costuming department for Marcon this year. Marcon is a 50+ year old SF/F convention in Columbus, Ohio and I've been part of the convention for the last four years. Many of the participants in the costuming track were interested in having Marcon listed as an official ICG event and I would like to know how I can make that possible.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Again, apologies if I'm not doing this right. We can blame it on me being new, right? :)
