7/18/2013 -- The ICG mourns the passing of Marty Gear today. "In addition to his many other contributions to the costuming community, for which we honored him as the second recipient of our Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991, he was one of the founders of the ICG and served as its Executive Director from its establishment in 1985 until our incorporation in 1989," said Byron Connell, an ICG past-president in a message to the ICG board of directors. "Perhaps more than anyone else in our community, Marty was responsible for bringing masquerades and other costumed stage events to their present state." The ICG sends its condolences to his family.

5/5/2011 The ICG is proud to present Jill Eastlake with the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award. Jill is the 22nd recipient of ICG's higest honor. See Jill's LAA citation to learn more about her achievements!

5/1/2011 The ICG Board of Directors is happy to welcome Jan Price as its new Corresponding Secretary. Jan has extensive experience in the costuming community and has held numerous ICG and chapter offices. The board would also like to extend its thanks to Kelli Lynch, who has completed her most recent term as Corresponding Secretary, for her service to ICG.

4/30/2011 ICG President Ann Catelli announced that Jill Eastlake is the 2011 recipient of the ICG Lifetime Achievement Award. Jill's costuming, running of masquerades and conventions (including Costume-Con 18 in Hartford, CT), and other hard work well qualified her for the honor. Jill's citation on the ICG Lifetime Achievement Award page will appear shortly.

2/7/2011 ICG President Ann Catelli invites members to submit agenda items for the ICG annual meeting. The meeting will take place at Costume-Con 29, which runs from April 29 to May 2, 2011.

1/21/2011 Nominations are open for the ICG Lifetime Achievement Award. Please send Ann Catelli the name and a brief costuming biography of the person. 03/05/2008--Nominations for ICG Officers are now officially open until March 26, 2008. 03/03/2008--Lifetime Achievement Award nominations are now closed as of 3/3/2008.

The ICG is accepting nominations for the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award. The LAA, the highest honor the ICG pays to costumers, recognizes "a body of achievement in the costuming art and service to the costuming community." Candidates for the award:

09/13/06--You can all breathe a relative sigh of relief; Worldcon and Dragon*Con are over and done with. Of course there's still Archon coming up early next month, so don't think you're off easy!

According to Martin Jacquish, this year's Worldcon masquerade had 33 entries, 15 of which were re-creations, 17 original designs, and 1 with both original and re-creation elements.The largest group numbered 14, making for a total of 90 participants plus one small dog!

We'll have a complete list of winners shortly, but the "Best In" winners include:

09/07/06--Costumers Guild West has chosen to withdraw from the International Costumers Guild. Updates to the officers and chapters pages have been made per their decision. We have added CGW in our resource links page.

05/10/06--Signe Merrifield has provided us with a Media Costuming Resources List, courtesy of the efforts from several people, including Mary Alice Ladd (moderator), Maggie, Shanti Fader, and Kim Kindya. Maggie believes that the original list may have come from a Balticon panel that she was on with Sue Toker and others; this list was used at the Media Costuming Panel at Lunacon 2006. Our grateful thanks to these intrepid costumers for allowing us to post the list here.

03/24/06:Carl Mami has resigned as President of the ICG. Nora Mai has become Acting President (A-Pres) for the remainder of the term.

03/24/06: The Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild has withdrawn from the ICG.

CostumeCon 24 is set for May 26-28, 2006 in Des Moines, IA. You can find out more about the convention by visiting http://cc24.dmsfs.org/.

The ICG's annual meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 26. Among the issues to be discussed and voted on are the proposed changes to the ICG's Masquerade Guidelines. We urge everyone to read them over at http://www.costume.org/guidelines-committee/.

If you're unable to attend the meeting at CC24, you can still make your thoughts known by filling out a proxy statement (found at http://www.costume.org/documents/proxy.html) and handing it to someone who will be attending.

08/07/2005--As you might have noticed on our front page, Barbara Ann Butcher "Bobbie" Gear, fellow costumer and wife of Marty Gear, passed away on June 25. A special memorial service was held on August 6. The ICG web site was darkened in her honor.

05/02/2005--Congratulations to Cat Devereaux, the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner!

03/03/2005--The ICG has officially disbanded the Greater Sacramento Area Costumers Guild.
